Cranky Day 2009

They came each with their own "Pod" filled with projects and toys to play with and create beautiful, fun items.

Peg started us off with her Cuttlebug and Big Shot card, we used a Cuttlebug folder and card stock vellum to make the village overlay, Sizzlets to make the snowflakes and a Quik Cuts die to make the swirlies (once we put it together right. What a cute card.
Rudolf was the star of two projects today, the first was Mary's Top Note, snowflake and punch card. Isn't he the cutest!Turquoise Top Note and Spellbinders snowflakes were the theme of Paulette's card. We added a bit of bling to the center of the snowflake. Zack also attended but did not bring a project. Lois kept us guessing what we were doing with a punched circle with a bit cut off the top, a small scallop circle cut into tear drop shapes, a black and orange tear drop shape and a bunch of palm frons punch outs. She cut a Christmas ornament with her Cricut, we stamped a background. After we saw the picture we got it, how cleaver to take all these components and create this beautiful image.

Close up of the bird
We used Karla's new Spellbinders Strip Die (punched out a ton of little pieces), folded then joined the strip to form a circle, placed on top a ribbon spool, created the second layer and TAH DAH an ornament!

The second appearance of Rudolf was created using the SU Pennant die cut and some circle punches, we cut 2 pennants and adhered them at the score lines to create a pocket. A little ribbon and he is ready for display.

Idea two used 3 different sized Spellbinders octagon scallop dies, 1 large, 3 medium and 3 small. The medium and small were scored four times each and a slit cut and each folded piece taped to the next and a circle formed, then placed on the large die cut to form a flower, put a large brad in the center through all the layers and you are done.

Tuesday night we had a guest teacher, Teresa Love from Close to My Heart, she helped us create a tri fold card and showed us many of her products. We had a ball and will have her back soon!

FYI, Saturday we will be meeting at Susan's SU open house at the Baymont at 9am. When we are finished we will go out to lunch.

Love to you all

What a beautiful day!!

The Saturday girls met, made cards, had yummy treats (thanks Lois and Paulette) and solved world issues yet again if they would just ask us.

Mary was the card designer this week, her color palette was celery, old olive, crushed curry and razzleberry, are they not beautiful together.!!

He did well giving us the instructions for the card, Paulette told us that he planned it all out and selected the stamp set and ink. All these years of hanging with us have rubbed off.

Paulette's Penguin Party!
We used a jumbo circle punch, even Mary had enough muscles to make it work!!

Pam's Petite Penguins

the little fellas held a ribbon banner announcing the holiday and had pom pom for the hats.

My gift tag

Penguin with a coat and hat.

I love the Memory Box penguins you can give them any color clothes, etc and the are just too cute!

Where did fall go?

We have gotten together several times since my last update,
the first time was Saturday October 10th, when Pam provided a screen door card, template and many color combination's to select from. They were fun to put together. Sorry no picture.

Tuesday October 13th we tried a new meeting spot, the Oak View Library (across the street from the Kenny Anderson Center - Karla) Beth and I provided fall themed cards. We did like this room and will continue to use it in the future for Tuesday nights. Mary, Pam, Karla, Beth and Anne attended, Joyce called in to report she is working to hard again, Peg helping others (as always) and Paulette must have taken a nap, Gwen did not call and needs to bring a note next time or pictures of Damion.
We decided to provide Christmas cards to send to troops deployed overseas for them to send home. If you could attend the next Saturday you should bring an idea and 8-10 kits and we would get them put together. Pam offered to make the contact to find out how they should be sent.

Saturday October 17
We put together Christmas cards for the troops.
Mary's card
I should have taken a picture of it open, it features the SU Sock Monkey,
wearing the Santa Hat.

Pam's Gingerbread Boy

My Poinsettia and Holly card

Karla offered up everyone's favorite, O Little Town of Bethlehem.

Saturday October 24, Lois taught Mary, Paulette and I a pretty multi-fold card

I also included photos of some fall projects I have been working on, using my Cricut and the Doodlecaharms cart, a new Close to my Heart leaf stamp set and SU bag die.

World Card Making Day 2009

It may have been a rainy cold day outside but we never knew it, we had great fun and enjoyed the day (9:30 to 5- we could not believe how long we were together). The key to our success this year was staying hydrated, snack breaks and moving around between projects.Projects were fun and challenging, one of my project was a "top note" gift card holder,
Mary's card used the SU new pheasant, scallop punch, dusty durango ribbon and ink, crushed curry and kraft CS, more mustard DSP and the new fall DSP, modern label punch. What an attrative fall card.
Lois's project used copper tape (for stained glass work) around the glass piece, it as a little tricky but it created an attrative embelishment to the card, also used leaf stamps and matching punches, an array of card stock to customize your card, dew drops and matching fall striped ribbon. All together a "pretty" seasonal card. The envelope is never naked with Lois's card.

Blue was the theme Pam used for her card, the flower is a 2 step set, the outline stamp was used to create the background, we also used the white gel pen to decorate the dark blue strip. The center of the flower is highlighted by a yelllow "gem".We made treat boxes with Paulette, she had several different sizes of paper cut and we used diagonal folds, they were a lot of fun and the chocolate was just as good.
My second idea was a Dracula themed mini candy bar holder, punches were used to make the eyes. To build the holder non metric measurments were used to Beth's frustrations.
Peg could not be with us, put was with us in sprit, she provided the chips and dip

Susan brought us four new ideas, #1 was with a pre cut photo matte and an embossing folder, the effect was a plain center to stamp on.

For card 2 a top note was cut from the SU wood, ink was brayed on it, a mask used to create the sun with sponged "dusty durango" (we will all smile now when we say that) , a little razzleberry on the edges and the pheasant and grass stamps make a beautiful card.
SU new snowflake window material was used to create the snowglobe effect. the penquin was colored with markers and the glitter pen used to highlight the scarf and snow he is standing on.

Susan's last card involved using an emobssing folder and the new ornament punch and stamp set
Karla's card idea nearly killed us, we used the tree die cut and finally got it together!
WE WIN over the paper!!!
With another WCMD behind us we look forward to another year of fun ideas and playing.

Love you all

Update day!!

Hi gang,

we have been having lots of fun with all our toys,
3 weeks ago we made these two cards using the Circus Circle set, razzleberry, curry and melon card stock/ribbon and razzleberry lemondade DSP. I love this set, colors and will use it a lot!
Last Saturday Mary gave us three card ideas!
Card 1 used the Medallion stamp, curry ink with soft suede and red accent strips.
Card 2 used the McDonalds set (from the back page of the catalog) razzleberry and old olive card stock, razzleberry, olive and bliss blue ink, the little crosses are pop dotted. - Simple and attractive.
Card 3 used old olive card stock run through the "movers and shakers" die, curvy punch, choclate ribbon, crushed curry DSP. An Eye Catcher!

Yesterday Lois, Mary, Peg and I made Paulette's fun fall card, leaves were punched (without Joyce - horrors) and added to the card.

We are all preparing for World Card Making Day next Saturday, an all day event again!!! Bring your shoe box idea for 10 and join the fun.

Till next time

Cindy

Relaxing on Labor Day

With a day to relax I have time to update, good thing, it has been a while.

The August Tuesday night card was created by Pam, it is cheery with overlapping ribbon, flower punches and ladybugs.
The following Saturday Beth card had a favorite color combo and we got to use a hounds tooth cuttlebug folder to create the old olive background.
The last Friday in August, Lois, Paulette, Gwen, Karla, Anne and I attended Susan's SU hostess appreciation dinner. We had a great time. Some of us took part in the card exchange, this is my entrya gift card holder from a 6x6 piece of double sided DSP, a top note die cut, ribbon, scallop and circle punch. On the inside I cut a clear envelope and attached it to the inside to hold a gift card.
Here are a few of the other cards I got back in the trade
the top left card is Lois's card, the pull out tag is really cleaver, Susan love the idea,
Gwen's card, I love that big medaillion stamp!

There were several other cards but to quote Doug "not all these ladies are up to your skill level are they"

Susan's make and takes - gift tags
and two adorable cards
We all had agreat time, Susan is wonderful.

The last Satuday in August Lois treated us to 2 card ideas, the first was like wallet style that could be used as a money holderThe other was a circle card ( she loves her cricut) with a concho and beads.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow night, Karla will be hosting Susan here so wee can see come new ideas!

Check the calander, it is updated for the rest of the year.
